My trip to South Korea with my high school friend, Mon, involved 11 days of touring Seoul (with day trips to Paju, Anyang, and Gapyeong), Danyang, Busan, and Jeju. On our fifth day in Seoul, we managed to make room for a trip to Gyeonggi-do specifically at Nami Island, Petite France, and The Garden of Morning Calm in Gapyeong.

Before setting my foot in South Korea, I had already foreseen going there with my friend from high school, Mon, because both of us have been caught by its wave, also known as Hallyu. Hallyu, translated as “Flow of Korea” in English, describes the international popularity of South Korean culture and is exceptionally accounted for the growth of tourism in the country. Its effect has taken the world by storm since the 1990s through Korean music, drama, food, skincare, cosmetics, and fashion.
